My topic will be sports.
My favorite sport to follow is definitely baseball. I had played the sport since I was five years old until I graduated high school, and I could probably name the starting lineups to half the teams in the league if not more. I love baseball.
The steroid testing policy in baseball as of right now is still a joke. Other than pinpointing Rafael Palmerio the policy has caught a bunch of scrubs and Seattle Mariners players. The punishments are still a bit weak. If Pete Rose can't get into the Hall of Fame for betting for his team than these cheaters need a more strigent testing policy. Bonds is lucky he hasn't played this year, I'd be willing to be my college tuiton that he has taken steroids at some point in his career, probably even the last 18 months. The policy needs to be tougher to really encourage the players in the minor league system to stay away from steroids that's the only way to eliminate the use of steroids in baseball.
This year in baseball has been very interesting, and as far as the standings go I'm not sure my Yankees will get into the playoffs. They're a game and a half back on Celevland and have a very difficult schedule ahead of them, seeing as how they can't beat the Devils Rays-ever. Then they play their divison the rest of the year and the division is pretty tough. If they do make the playoffs Alex Rodriguez will win the MVP award this year, which would be great satisfaction for me. I would be sure to rub it in JT's face.
They're are three things I'm sure about in the National League: The Cardinals are unstoppable, no one from the NL West really deserves to make the playoffs and they should probably all disban from the league after this year, and Bobby Cox needs to win manager of the league. No one else in the league would have the Braves at the top of the best division in baseball (7 games up even!). It's remarkable.
On a playoff note I'll make these predictions. The Angels will make it to the world series this year, although I'd like to see Chicago go (or Cleveland if they make it in). I'm only making this prediction because I don't like the Red Sox and I don't want to see them get back to the World Series, I'm not all that impressed with the White Sox in a long series, and I can't be positive the Yankees will even make the playoffs. The Cardinals will win the National League (Suprise!) Although, the Astros could be tough in a short division.
The Cardinals over the Angels in the World Series.
All I know is this last month of baseball will be exciting.
